What the heck am I doing owning my own deli and being GLUTEN FREE? Well I can tell you I really do have a need to feed. I think it is my italian heritage or the fact that I live vicariously through other people’s “food joy”. I may not be able to eat the bread and awesome cool bread and meat combo’s that we come up with at Uptown but I can feed the 82% of the other people who can:)
Don’t feel bad for me( oh OK feel bad a little) I still find plenty to consume. I know what every one of my sandwiches taste like because I eat them without bread OR I eat them with gluten free bread. They DO rock! Anyone who has had to adjust their diet knows how difficult the change is but you do get used to it. Your taste changes to adjust to your new dietary restrictions. What once seemed like unbearable torture on earth becomes life. Life where you can still enjoy great food.
Uptown Deli is proud to be the place to fulfill a large variety of the difficult dietary needs to those of you who are willing to come to Richmond Hill, GA and eat:) . All you have to do is tell us you want one of our Signature Sandwich’s ”sans” bread and you can enjoy a Lady Liberty without the gluten. Bring your own gluten free bread and we can work with you. If you have and issue with your sugars we can work with you. Even if you are on a kick of low carbs and may be reducing the amount you take in at each meal, tell us and we can make yours open-faced. We will never compromise the quality or the taste… food means too much to us. LOL
We take our meat very seriously at Uptown Deli.
Our chicken, tuna, shrimp and potato salads are all gluten free. Our Signature Salads are gluten free as well. Just ask us not to put bread on your dish and tell us that you are gluten free and we will take extra care to NOT cross contaminate. It is that simple at Uptown. The reason we are that careful and understand care a touch more than others is because I have gone 35 years without knowing why I was ill and now that I know I will NEVER go back to be ill. So we all are aware of the restrictions at Uptown and we care.
